Jenny Couper (nee Cook) is Deputy Executive Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, and head of the Discipline of Paediatrics, University of Adelaide. She is a paediatric endocrinologist who directs the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department, Women’s and Children’s Hospital, SA, providing service to the paediatric diabetes clinic of approximately 800 patients and paediatric endocrinology clinic of approximately 800 patients. She is lead examiner for the MBBS teaching program in Paediatrics, University of Adelaide.
She has been CIA on category 1 research grants, totalling $13.5M in the past 5 years. She has active collaborations with USA, UK and across Australia. She leads the NHMRC JDRF Centre of Research Excellence for the Protection of Pancreatic Beta Cells. She leads the cardiovascular investigation in Australia for the international multicenter Adolescent Diabetes Intervention Trial.
She is the author of more than 100 publications. She is actively involved in translating research findings into clinical practice and policy, being a member of the working parties for the NHMRC and International Society of Paediatric Diabetes Guidelines for the Management of Type1 Diabetes.
She has extensive advocacy experience for children with type 1 diabetes and children with autism spectrum disorder.
